How real labor unions advocate for their members.

A one-day nationwide strike has taken place in India, organized by the country's ten major trade unions as a protest against central government policies, writes Salidarnasts.

In particular, the unions are demanding the abolition of four new Codes, calling them the most sweeping and aggressive defeat of workers' rights since India's independence.

In addition, the participants of the large-scale strike opposed the recently announced trade agreement between India and the United States, claiming that as a result, Indian products will not be able to compete with American imports in the market, and domestic farmers will go bankrupt.

Ironically, the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, headed by Chairman Yuri Senko, came to India the day before. So to speak, to exchange experience.

Senko told "about the built system of social partnership in Belarus, thanks to which all the most important issues - from ensuring productive employment to raising wages - are effectively and constructively solved." And we even know the main social partner, who periodically receives the head of the "independent" FPB with a report and defines the tasks for the future. And these tasks are not about fighting for workers' rights, but, first of all, about total control over workers.

At the same time, the FPB representatives could see in India how real trade unions defend the interests of their members. After all, since the summer of 2002, when the federation came under the full control of the authorities, none of its leaders even speaks about protests.
