Former US Secretary of State and Donald Trump's rival in the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton, has strongly criticized the current administration's policy on the war in Ukraine. The statement came during a panel discussion on the margins of the Munich Security Conference.
Clinton said the Trump administration's stance on Ukraine is "disgraceful." She said that attempts to induce Kiev to agree to an agreement that would effectively mean capitulation to Putin would be unacceptable, UNIAN writes.
"Trying to force Ukraine to agree to a surrender deal with Putin is disgraceful. The efforts Putin and Trump are making to capitalize on the suffering and deaths of the Ukrainian people are a historic mistake and corruption of the highest order," the politician emphasized.
Clinton noted that Ukraine is now fighting not only for its territorial integrity, but also for democracy and the values of the West, losing thousands of citizens. She said the war was the result of "one man's mania" to control Ukrainians, obviously referring to Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
She also expressed the opinion that the current U.S. president either does not realize the scale of suffering of the Ukrainian people or is indifferent to the consequences of what is happening.
