Ukrainian Missile Caused A Nervous Tic Among Russian Soldiers

The air defense can't handle it.

On the night of February 12, the AFU launched a successful strike on the Russian arsenal of the GRAU near Kotlubanyu. This is the second officially confirmed case of using the FP-5 "Flamingo" cruise missile.

This is reported by DEFENSE EXPRESS.

The AFU General Staff reported that the strike on the warehouse of the main missile and artillery department was accompanied by powerful explosions and subsequent secondary detonation.

The official report noted: "powerful explosions were recorded on the territory of the object with a subsequent secondary detonation."

Local authorities evacuated the village of Kotluban, located about a kilometer from the object.

This is the second episode in which the use of the FP-5 Flamingo has been officially confirmed.

The first time the missile's name was mentioned was in a report about a series of January strikes on the Kapustin Yar test site, where the infrastructure for preparing medium-range missile launches was said to have been hit.

Possible missile upgrade

The repeated successful penetration of protected facilities could indicate a missile upgrade.

It was previously reported that there were plans to equip the FP-5 with a low-altitude flight system. The most likely solution is considered to be the integration of TERCOM, a terrain-matching technology for navigation.

The lower altitude of the route allows the cruise missile to move out of the detection range of ground-based radars, while autonomous navigation increases resistance to electronic warfare.

The fact that both targets are in the same region and are located about 120 kilometers apart may indicate a lack of air defense reinforcement in the area.
