U.S. President Donald Trump is considering withdrawing from negotiations on the settlement of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
According to the publication, the decision may be made in the coming weeks, when Trump's attention shifts to the campaign for Congress.
The Ukrainian side is already feeling the shrinking time window for diplomatic initiatives. At the same time, according to the source, Trump may find the talks politically disadvantageous and shift the responsibility for their breakdown to both sides of the conflict.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky emphasized that Kiev was demonstrating its readiness for compromise.
"The Ukrainians persistently tried to demonstrate their readiness for compromise. The tactic we chose is to make the Americans not think that we want to continue the war," he said.
Zelensky added that Ukraine supports any U.S. initiatives that could speed up the settlement process, but at the same time maintains control over its position and national interests.
