Ukrainian Heraskevych Has Been Left Out Of The 2026 Olympics
Vladislav Geraskiewicz

The IOC reviewed the decision after the disqualification.

Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladislav Heraskevich will be able to continue to compete at the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan despite his suspension. The 27-year-old from Kiev did not agree with the organizers' ban on the use of a helmet depicting compatriots killed by the Russian army and was removed from the tournament, but his accreditation will be restored.

This is stated on the official site of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The statement of the organization's president Kirsty Coventry stresses that according to the rules Geraskiewicz should have immediately left the competition and its facilities.

The IOC head, however, "as an exception after a respectful conversation with the athlete," asked the organization's disciplinary committee to reconsider the decision to revoke the Ukrainian's accreditation. As a result, Heraskevych's document was restored and he will be able to be at the Olympic Games without the opportunity to compete.

We will recall that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) accused the Ukrainian of violating the rules and removed him from the Olympic Games-2026 right before the start. The organization cynically stated that they gave "last chance" to Geraskiewicz to get out of the situation.

And the president of the organization Kirsty Coventry called the helmet of the Ukrainian "a powerful message" that violates the rules. Before that, Vladyslav was offered to honor the memory of his compatriots with a mourning armband. In response, the leader of the "blue-yellow" put the IOC in place.
