Russian State-owned Messenger MAH Collapsed After Telegram Blocking Began

Started having trouble sending messages and dropping calls.

A massive failure occurred in the work of the state messenger MAH on February 10 - right after the authorities began to restrict the work of Telegram. This is evidenced by the data of the monitoring service "Failure.rf," which received more than 1,800 complaints from users as of 3.55 p.m. Minsk, writes The Moscow Times.

Problems with sending messages and interrupting calls were recorded in at least 20 regions, with the most complaints coming from Moscow and St. Petersburg. However, the official press service of MAH denied the problems, telling RBC that "all services are working in normal mode."

The reports about the failure appeared against the background of the beginning of the "partial restriction" of Telegram in Russia. As RBC wrote with reference to a source in the IT-industry, the messenger's work inside the country is being slowed down by the decision of the authorities. Complaints from Russian users about problems in the work of Telegram began to arrive the day before and by February 10 reached 15 thousand.

Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Andrey Svintsov in a commentary for the channel "Careful, News" said that the issue of the complete blocking of Telegram in Russia can be resolved within six months. According to him, the messenger does not fulfill the requirements of the legislation, including the placement of servers in Russia and the fight against fraud. Roskomnadzor confirmed the tightening of restrictions, saying it would impose them until the violations are eliminated.
