Tuesday, February 10, there was a traffic accident with a train of international lines, which was going from Moscow to Minsk.

As noted in the Belarusian Railways, it's about "Lastochka", which left the Russian capital at 06:20. According to the railroaders, the train will arrive in Minsk with an estimated delay of 2.5 hours.

Specialists of the Moscow railroad also clarified the circumstances of the accident.

It turned out that the cause of the accident in Smolensk region was the departure of a car on the tracks in front of the approaching train.

"At 10:19 at the railway crossing between the stations Rakitnaya and Gusino of the Moscow railroad, the driver of the car "Gazelle" drove onto the tracks in front of the approaching passenger train number 717 Moscow - Minsk," - said there.

The driver applied emergency braking, but the distance was insufficient - the collision could not be avoided.
