Callas: Putin Doesn't Want Peace

The EU's diplomatic chief called the "Nutshell" strike a warning to the West.

The use by the aggressor country Russia of the Oreshnik missile against Ukraine, which occurred on the night of January 9, is a clear escalation of the invaders and a "warning to Europe and the United States." At the same time, this warning is the Russian regime's response to attempts to diplomatically end the war in Ukraine.

The Kremlin's "Putin does not want peace and responds to diplomacy with more missiles and destruction." That's how EU diplomacy and security policy chief Kaja Kallas commented on the invaders' latest strike on Lviv.

"This deadly pattern of large-scale Russian strikes will be repeated until we help Ukraine break it," Europe's top diplomat said.

She also said EU countries should "dive deeper" into their air defense stockpiles and "immediately fulfill their commitments" - apparently referring to Europe's pledge to help Ukraine with air defense systems.

"We must also further increase the cost of this war for Moscow, in particular by imposing tougher sanctions," the EU high representative added.
