Trump: US Ready To Strike Iran Very Hard If Protesters Are Killed

The U.S. president warned the Iranian regime.

The United States is prepared to strike "hard" at Iran if protesters are killed, US President Donald Trump wrote in Truth Social.

"Some people died because of crowd control problems. We are monitoring the situation very closely," he wrote.

Trump added that he was not sure he could hold anyone in particular responsible for the crowd crushes that caused the deaths.

Trump also gave a similar response to a question about the protests in Iran during an interview with Hugh Hewitt.

"Well, my message is that if they do this, we will hit them very, very hard. This is a regime that's in big trouble. They don't have gasoline, they don't have water, they don't have anything. They've spent all their money on terrorism and all kinds of nonsense. And the people of Iran are a great people. I know many of them. They live in this country [the U.S.], they live all over the world. They are incredible people. And they want to be free. And if they [Iranian authorities] start killing these people, we will hit them harder than they've ever been hit before. That's my message. They should be very careful," Trump said.

When asked if the United States would help the people of Iran "become free," the American leader said he would "see what happens."

"But they certainly have a right to be free. It's a great country, great heritage, everything is great there, but it's run by people who have treated the people very, very badly. And they're in big trouble right now. They've never had a problem like they have now," Trump said.

Protests in Iran have been ongoing since December 28, they began in Tehran's main city bazaar. Initially, shopkeepers and students took to the streets, dissatisfied with the government's actions due to a sharp drop in the currency and skyrocketing prices.
