Protests in the country are gaining momentum.
In the city of Mashhad in northeastern Iran, which is the second largest after Tehran, protesters lowered and tore the Islamic Republic's national flag.
It was reported by Iran International on social media X.
"A group of protesters in the holy city of Mashhad in northeastern Iran have taken down a huge flag of the Islamic Republic," the report said.
It is worth adding that this city is the second largest after Tehran.
A group of workers from Iran's largest gas field, South Pars, also joined the protests.
According to human rights activists and media, dozens of people were killed as a result of the security forces' harsh actions. More than 2,000 people were detained.
In a number of cities, the authorities resorted to shutting down the Internet in an attempt to limit the spread of information and coordination of protests.
