The Hijacking Of The Tanker Mariner And Seven Oddities
Ivan Yakovina

What this ship was actually carrying and where it was headed.

It turns out that the tanker "Mariner", seized by the Americans, was originally on its way to Venezuela from Iran. And on the way, it was hiding - substituting its transponder signal to appear on maps hundreds of kilometers away from its real location.

This is the first oddity.

The second is that it refused to obey the demand of the US Navy - it did not stop, but began to run away from them.

The third is that the crew of the tanker began to paint the Russian tricolor on it, and the tanker itself, right in the process of the chase, suddenly became Russian.

The tanker right in the process of the chase suddenly became Russian

The fourth oddity is a special statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry that "it's just a tanker, leave it alone".

The fifth is the dispatch of Russian Navy ships, including a nuclear submarine, to protect this vessel.

The sixth is the intense hysteria that Russian media and officials have made about the seizure of the Mariner. They suggest, for example, sinking American warships and hitting the UK with the Peanut.

Seventh, the Americans are already planning to file criminal charges against the tanker's crew.

There are all sorts of other little things.

But summarizing all these facts, I would venture to guess that the Mariner was carrying FPV drones and related equipment from Russia to Venezuela, transiting Iran. I think Putin realized that the Americans would soon send troops there, and he really wanted to see how these drones would perform in battles against the strongest NATO army.

Before a big war in Europe, before invading the Baltic States, he needed to know for sure if the US and its allies had any means of countering FPV drones, and if so, how effective they were. And just to "tickle" the Americans in real combat, to avenge them for the Hymars and Javelins supplied to Ukraine.
