There Was A Transportation Collapse In Europe Due To Snowfall

Thousands of airline flights have been canceled.

Many European countries have experienced severe disruptions in transportation due to adverse weather conditions. Snowfalls, ice and frost have led to massive flight cancellations, rail service disruptions and a sharp rise in the number of road accidents, according to The New York Times.

The most difficult situation was in Northern Europe. About two thousand flights were canceled at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport, and rail service to the air harbor was temporarily suspended. At Brussels airport, passengers were warned about delays and cancelations of flights due to the need to clear runways. Weather forecasters predict new snowfalls in the Netherlands and Belgium.

In France, unfavorable weather conditions led to a series of traffic accidents, as a result of which several people received incompatible with life injuries. About a third of the country's territory has been placed in the regime of increased meteorological danger. In a number of regions, authorities have restricted the movement of school transport, reduced the allowable speed on the roads and introduced a ban on the passage of heavy trucks. Passengers faced massive flight cancellations at Paris airports.

Forecasters note that since the beginning of the year, Europe has been hit by a powerful Arctic cyclone, which led to the fact that in some regions the thermometer columns fell 12-15 degrees below the climatic norm.

January 7, the plane of Romanian President Nicusor Dan was unable to depart from Paris airport due to heavy snowfall. According to journalists, the Spartan airplane was prepared for departure in the morning, but the runway was covered with snow, because of which the flight had to be postponed.
