The Head Of The Russian Orthodox Church Suggested That Russians Should Be Considered "traitors To The Motherland" For Disagreeing With The Putin Regime's Policies

Patriarch Kirill made a strange statement.

There should be a public consensus on the most important issues in Russia, and those who would disagree with the proposed decisions should be considered "traitors to the Motherland," Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill said. "There are concepts that are related to the very ability and possibility of the state to exist. Here around these ideas, these concepts, there must necessarily be a public consensus. If someone falls out of this consensus, there is such a definition - a traitor to the Motherland with all the legal consequences that follow," the head of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) said in a Christmas interview with Rossiya 1 TV channel (quoted by TASS).

According to him, consensus is needed "around the most important issues of our security." "I mean not only security in terms of possible military aggressions, our spiritual and moral security, that is, the preservation of our values, which, among other things, are largely formed by Russia's traditional religions," the patriarch said. He also said that Russia is becoming "a spiritual adversary of Western civilization," as the West "justifies sin." Among the problems of Western civilization, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church also named the pursuit of personal freedom, which, in his opinion, leads to the loss of the moral component and degradation of the younger generation.

The patriarch believes that it is the West that has turned against Russia, as it represents "a very attractive alternative to civilizational development." "We propose not to expel the Christian faith, as is now happening in the West. We do not accept what is accepted in the West today under the slogan of 'human rights,' but which is actually aimed at destroying human morality," the head of the Russian Orthodox Church noted.

In addition, he said, in the West at the moment there is no concept of "feat," which implies the violation of comfort. "A feat is done in the name of something, but not in the name of one's own kith and kin. And this focus on the self is the maximum egoism, which is manifested today in the life of Western society, among others," the patriarch said. He added that without a feat, including labor, it is impossible to defend and build such a strong country as Russia. "A feat is required," the head of the Russian Orthodox Church concluded.
