The failures are getting bigger and bigger.
The failure to defeat Ukraine, which was not initially taken seriously in Russia, has severely lowered the self-esteem of the Russian "patriotic" community. The heaviest bloody war, the duration of which has already reached the length of the Great Patriotic War and which still has no end in sight, has exhausted the stock of power pathos and conceit among the main masses of Russians. The former bravura mood is now demonstrated only by the propagandists who are paid for it.
The brilliant success of the Americans, who showed on the example of Venezuela what a "special military operation" should really look like, further demoralizes the people of Russia - both the common people and the elites. The contrast between the superior efficiency of the U.S. military and special services and the striking inefficiency of their Russian colleagues is too striking. It is not even clear whether they can be called "colleagues" at all - it is as if they are in different weight categories. All the more so because the American success in Caracas was superimposed on fresh and very painful blunders by Moscow, which cheerfully reported on the capture of Kupyansk, which turned out not to have been captured, and the liquidation of RDK commander Kapustin, who had survived. And if we add to this the Kremlin's complaints that the Ukrainians dare to shell Putin's residence - what insolence! During the war, to hit the decision-making centers?!
Putin's personal image was also hit hard. The main reason is the same: Trump's subordinates turned out to be much more effective than representatives of the system built by his Russian counterpart over many years.
In addition, Maduro was Moscow's most important ally, and the way Trump treated him demonstrates both a clear lack of piety for the latter's interests and its inability to do anything to counter Washington. A year ago, Russia lost Assad, then the Americans and Israel demolished the Iranian ayatollahs, and now Maduro. The failures are getting bigger.
