Venezuela's Interim Head Offered U.S. Cooperation
Delcy Rodriguez

Earlier, President Trump threatened her with repercussions.

Caracas remains committed to peaceful coexistence with its neighbors, striving to live without external threats and in an atmosphere of respect and international cooperation, Venezuela's interim president Delcy Rodriguez said. In an open letter posted on her Instagram page on Sunday, January 4, the politician urged the U.S. government to cooperate.

Rodriguez said Caracas gives "priority to the development of balanced and respectful international relations between the United States and Venezuela," as well as other countries in the region. "We invite the U.S. government to cooperate in a program focused on co-development within the framework of international law, in order to strengthen a lasting coexistence in society," Rodriguez wrote.

Earlier, as Demean Wave recalls, on the same day Donald Trump said that Delcy Rodriguez would pay a "high price" if she did not cooperate with U.S. authorities. "Probably a bigger one than Maduro," The Atlantic quoted the US president as saying.

Before that, at a press conference on the capture of Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Trump announced that his administration would take over the interim governance of Venezuela. According to Bloomberg, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to take a key role in this.
