It is not expected to be long.
The United States federal government is in a partial shutdown despite Senate approval of a funding agreement needed to avert a shutdown.
This is reported by CBS News.
The partial shutdown reportedly officially began at midnight on January 31 U.S. Eastern Time. It came hours after senators agreed to extend funding for most agencies through September.
The shutdown is expected to be short-lived. The package of bills must be approved by the House of Representatives, which is in recess until Monday, Feb. 2.
In addition, lower house lawmakers are expected to vote on it shortly after returning to Washington.
The publication notes that there is no desire in Washington to continue a shutdown similar to the one that lasted 43 days in the fall.
