The Future Dutch Prime Minister Has Revealed Whether He Would Agree To Talks With Putin
Rob Yeaten

Rob Yeaten urged the EU to stay the course in supporting Ukraine.

Some EU leaders - not only the traditionally Russia-friendly Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo, but even French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni - have recently suggested that the EU should consider re-establishing diplomatic channels with Russia to prevent U.S. President Donald Trump from setting the tone for talks with Moscow.

The incoming Dutch prime minister, Rob Yeaten, whose D66 party this week struck a deal to form a minority government, said he opposes any such moves and assured that his new government will continue to support Kiev, The Guardian.

The 38-year-old politician said he would not negotiate with Moscow because there was still "no indication" that Russia wanted to end the war in Ukraine.

"And as long as the aggression continues, we will continue to support the Ukrainian people," he said.

He also said Europeans should "have a much more active discussion about what Europe can do for itself" and stop looking at the US under Donald Trump.
