Russia is preparing for a sharp rise in prices for smartphones. According to the Russian media close to the Kremlin, manufacturers from China have already notified Russian retailers of a 10-30% increase in the price of their products in February, writes "Dialog.UA".

All because of the Kremlin's policy

First of all, this will affect models of the middle and high price segment, as well as smartphones with increased memory and storage capacity. Gadgets at new prices will appear in stores in March - April.

But the growth of cost will not stop there. Experts warn that smartphones will continue to rise in price throughout 2026.

The main reasons include VAT increase, the introduction of the "Honest Mark" labeling system, technology fees and rising prices for components.

Additional influence is exerted by fluctuations in the ruble-dollar exchange rate and the level of the Central Bank's key rate, on which the cost of imports directly depends.

Analysts expect that after the spring wave of price hikes, the next one will be in the summer. This means that it will become less and less profitable to postpone the purchase of a new smartphone, and the choice of budget models on the market may significantly reduce.

Retailers are already preparing for the decline in demand and are revising the range, betting on the most popular models.
