Earlier, Trump said he personally asked Putin not to shell Kiev and other Ukrainian cities for a week.

The Ukrainian negotiating team is in touch with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky almost hourly to inform him about the progress of peace talks with the United States. Zelensky said this in an evening address on January 29, published on his Facebook page.

"We are communicating with partners, with the American side about really effective formats and really necessary results. Ukraine is ready for the meeting. Ukraine is ready for solutions, and we expect that partners can be as effective as possible - in Europe, in America, everywhere. Exactly as it is necessary for a long-lasting peace. We will use all opportunities to achieve peace, to guarantee security," he said.

Zelensky thanked the U.S. side for its efforts to stop the strikes on Ukrainian energy, and expressed hope that America will be able to ensure this.

"There is a statement from the President of the United States today. The situation now at night and the other day, the real situation at our energy facilities, in our cities will show it," the President said.
