Putin Has Two Paths - And They're Both Bad Ones
Sergey Taran

The President of the United States made an interesting statement.

Interesting statement by Trump that he asked Putin to stop strikes on Kiev and other Ukrainian cities. And the latter seemed to agree. Now that Trump has announced it publicly, Putin has two choices - and both bad ones. If he resumes strikes on civilian Ukrainian energy - it will be a blow to Trump's reputation as well, and the American leader will have to respond somehow. Of course, not because Trump is resolute about Russia, but because he needs to show that resolve to his American voters, who will soon be voting for candidates for Congress.

If he doesn't resume strikes - Putin will show his weakness and dependence on Trump, who will prove to be a greater authority for him than his own stubborn Rashists, who call for hitting Ukrainian cities precisely during the frost.

P.S. And, yes, I realize that Trump could simply remain silent, but it certainly won't add any new points to the Republicans' attitude toward Putin.
