Trump: I Personally Asked Putin Not To Shell Kiev And Other Ukrainian Cities For A Week Because Of The Cold Weather

US President Donald Trump said at a Cabinet meeting at the White House that he asked Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to halt strikes on Ukraine for a week amid cold weather.

Putin, according to Trump, agreed. "And I have to tell you, it was very pleasant," the Republican added. When exactly this conversation took place, he did not specify.

The US president claimed that many warned him that the Russian side would not agree. "But he did, and we're very happy he did," Trump said, adding that the Ukrainians "almost didn't believe it, but they were very happy."
