It will only take a few months.
Ukraine in just a few months may begin to depend much less on U.S. intelligence. Europe can help in this.
The Financial Times reports this.
The publication writes that since Donald Trump's return to the White House, U.S. involvement in the Ukrainian issue has been one of the top priorities for European leaders. And even at the cost of US duties on EU goods in the summer of 2025 without retaliatory measures.
Sources said that if the US were to abandon Kiev, it would be a heavy blow to the depleted Ukrainian army, and would only encourage Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin to pursue his maximalist goal of subjugating Ukraine.
Now, however, the consequences of a U.S. withdrawal will not be as critical as they seemed a year ago, when the Trump administration briefly suspended intelligence sharing and arms shipments.
According to Ukrainian and European officials, other allies stepped in at that point, using their own resources. In addition, French President Emmanuel Macron said in January 2026 that his country now provides Ukraine with two-thirds of its intelligence information.
"Ukraine's dependence on U.S. intelligence could be significantly reduced within months," a Western official said.
