Ushakov said there were "security guarantees" for the Ukrainian president.
An aide to Vladimir Putin Yuri Ushakov has said that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky may come to Moscow if he is ready to meet with the Russian dictator. At the same time, he claims that the Russians guarantee the Ukrainian leader's safety.
Yuri Ushakov's statements regarding peace talks published on January 28 by Russian propagandist and journalist of the Rossiya TV channel Pavel Zarubin. Commenting on the words of Foreign Ministry head Andrey Sibiga about Vladimir Zelensky's readiness to meet with Vladimir Putin, Ushakov said that the issue is "not new" for the Kremlin.
A Putin aide said that a meeting with Zelensky was discussed several times during phone contacts with US President Donald Trump. Ushakov assured that the Russians "have never refused and are not refusing" such a format of peace talks.
"The main thing is that these contacts should be well prepared and focused on achieving concrete positive results. And our president has said several times while talking to journalists that if Zelensky is really ready for a meeting, we will invite him to Moscow and at the same time guarantee him security and the necessary conditions for work," Putin's aide said.
