Residents Of Russia's Engels Beg For Warmth

The city from which missiles are fired at Ukraine is on the verge of a communal disaster.

The city of Engels in the Saratov region, where the Russian strategic aviation airfield is located, is on the verge of a communal disaster. While Russian bombers have been taking off from here for the fourth year in a row to destroy Ukrainian apartment buildings and the energy system, the residents of Engels themselves are freezing in their own apartments because of rotten communications.

As Censor.net reports, numerous video messages from residents of Sovetskaya and Telman streets have appeared online. People, who for years silently supported the strikes on Ukrainian CHPs, now complain about the temperature of 13-15 degrees Celsius in their apartments and lack of hot water.

The main complaints of "patriots" from Engels:

Technological collapse: Instead of three boilers at the local boiler houses, one boiler barely works, the equipment is in a "ruined condition", and heating lines are rotted.

Formal inspections: Residents admit that acts of readiness for winter were signed formally, and pipes were not pressurized because they would "burst into pieces".

Ignoring the authorities: The local administration and the head of the city Leonov ignore calls for help, so people record humiliating appeals to the head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Bastrikin.

The Paradox of the "Russian World"

The cost of just one massive missile attack on Ukraine is equal to overhauling the entire municipal infrastructure of Engels. However, Russian state funds are being spent not on the welfare of its own citizens, but on depriving Ukrainians of heat and light.

"I have lived in this house for 17 years. For the last two years there has been no such trouble. I don't know, some kind of catastrophe in the city, you know?" complains one of the residents, not realizing the direct connection between the war and the destruction of their own homes.

The situation in Engels is a vivid example of how the Kremlin's imperial ambitions are turning into devastation within Russia itself. While propaganda rejoices over the destroyed Ukrainian thermal power plants, residents of Russia's "aviation capital" are getting used to living in the cold.
