Obama And Clinton Urged Americans To Protest Trump's Policies
Barack Obama and Bill Clinton

Former U.S. presidents have called on fellow citizens to defend freedom.

Former U.S. presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton have issued a call for Americans to come out to rallies against Donald Trump's policies, BILD reported.

According to the publication, former U.S. President Bill Clinton called on citizens to openly protest the administration's deportation policies following the death of 37-year-old nurse Alex Pretty in Minneapolis. He called the incident a wake-up call for the country.

- If we give up our freedoms after 250 years, we may never get them back again," Clinton said.

Support for the protests was earlier joined by Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle. In a joint statement, they said the peaceful actions in Minneapolis and other cities are a reminder of civic responsibility.

- It is a timely reminder that it is ultimately up to each and every one of us as citizens to decide whether we are willing to stand up against injustice, defend our basic freedoms, and hold the government accountable," their statement said.

Donald Trump reacted sharply to the protest movement. At Truth Social, he posted a photo of Pretty's alleged gun and accused Minnesota authorities of provoking the riots.

- The mayor and governor are inciting a riot with their bombastic, dangerous and arrogant rhetoric! Let our ICE patriots do their job! - Trump wrote.
