The Kremlin's economic capacity has been greatly reduced.
Russia is working hard to make the winter of 2025-2026 unbearable for Ukraine and incline it to capitulation. There is an opinion that real negotiations with the Kremlin may begin in the spring, but whether this is really the case.
An answer to "Telegraf" was given by an MP from the faction "Servant of the People", diplomat Bohdan Yaremenko.
According to Yaremenko, currently quite a few analysts and diplomats say that if Ukraine survives this winter, which is happening, a real dialog on the end of the war with Russia is expected in the spring. Allegedly Putin has put everything in place so that Kiev will now capitulate.
- Russia has at every stage of this war tried to make things as bad as possible for Ukraine. It's just that its understanding of what it can and its capabilities are changing. If Russia doesn't get everything (and it's even hard to imagine what 'everything' is for it), it won't stop," the diplomat said.
He explained that the hope now is that Putin won't economically pull out of the war. The signs of economic decline in Russia are pretty obvious: disappearing foreign exchange reserves, large state budget debt, inflation, and falling production. Russia is on the verge of big problems that have only just begun to emerge. But it is unclear how these economic problems will affect its ability and Putin's will to continue to wage war.
But more to the point, when will the Kremlin really be unable to go to war? Those who say "spring" or "summer" are thinking positively, but such a time frame Yaremenko does not understand. According to him, even Keith Kellogg, the former U.S. presidential special envoy for Ukraine, says that if Kiev survives this winter, the advantage will be on the Ukrainian side.
- These words are based on a vision of the obvious problems Russia faces, but have no scientific basis in terms of determining a specific date and time," the diplomat summarizes.
