There Was An Emergency At The Main Base Of The Russian Northern Fleet

In the closed city of Severomorsk, Murmansk region, where the main naval base of the Russian Northern Fleet is located, due to the collapse of five transmission towers on the lines of "Rosseti" electricity was cut off, military ships were switched to emergency generators.

"We are working in conjunction with the Severomorskiy regional power station and the Northern Fleet. He asked residents to "treat with understanding" the difficulties and, if possible, to limit the use of electrical appliances and equipment.

The power outage in both cities also caused interruptions in the supply of heating and hot water, according to the authorities. According to Evmenkov, this, in particular, affected residents of the settlements of Safonovo, Safonovo-1 and the Kortik microdistrict in Severomorsk - there the boiler houses were stopped. Heating points were opened in a number of city schools, kindergartens and in two houses of culture.

The Rosseti reported that snowfall, squally wind, as well as frost on wires and the structures themselves led to the collapse of supports. "During the night, power supply to some of the de-energized consumers was restored, including socially important facilities, with the involvement of backup sources. The installation of structures for the replacement of damaged transmission line towers continues," the company said. Before that, Chibis reported on the delivery of new supports from the Leningrad Region and Karelia.

A criminal case under the article on negligence (part 1 of article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) has been opened over the large-scale blackout in the Murmansk Region's settlements, the regional department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported.

The 43rd division of missile ships and several brigades of the Navy are stationed at Severomorsk. They include, among others, the heavy aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov of the Soviet Union Fleet, the heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser Pyotr Veliky, as well as several destroyers, frigates and large anti-submarine ships.
