Barron Trump was on a video call at the time of the incident.

The youngest son of US President Barron Trump called police in London, UK, after witnessing a woman being assaulted by her former boyfriend, Russian Matvey Rumyantsev, The Guardian reported, citing an audio recording of the US leader's son's call to British law enforcers that was played in court.

The incident occurred about a year ago. Barron Trump, who was 18 at the time, was talking on a video link with a woman, whose name has not been disclosed, when he saw Matvey Rumyantsev "punch her several times with his fist," The Guardian writes.

A few minutes later, Barron Trump called the police. According to the audio recording of the call, which was played in court, the son of the US president said that he received a call from a girl he met on social networks and she was "beaten up very badly". He then gave the victim's address. He also apologized to police that he was not prepared to answer further questions about his identity.

When police arrived at the scene, law enforcement officers can be heard on body camera video saying the victim said: "I'm friends with Barron Trump, son of Donald Trump."

"He helped save my life. That call was a sign from God at that moment," The Guardian quoted the victim of the attack as saying in court.

The victim told police she was attacked by 22-year-old Russian Matvey Rumyantsev. According to the girl, he raped her twice.

Rumyantsev was charged as a result of the investigation with strangulation, assault, mutilation, obstruction of justice, and two episodes of rape.

Rumyantsev's lawyers believe the story is fictitious. The young man himself has so far refused to admit guilt.
