Trump Will Meet With Colombia's President In Early February

US president demands a halt to the flow of cocaine and promises a "tough conversation".

US President Donald Trump has announced that he will meet with Colombian President Gustavo Petro in early February. This comes after their nearly hour-long conversation the day before.

"I look forward to meeting with Gustavo Petro, the president of Colombia, at the White House in the first week of February. I am sure it will be very beneficial to Colombia and the United States, but the flow of cocaine and other drugs into the U.S. must be stopped," Trump wrote on social media TruthSocial.

The day before, the presidents called? and Colombian President Gustavo Petro gave Donald Trump his views on the drug trade and the situation in Venezuela. Petro noted that he recognizes President Trump's disagreement with his position. But he believes that it is much more appropriate to start a dialogue on these issues than to solve them on the battlefield.

Reminder, before that Gustavo Petro openly criticized American actions in Venezuela. US President Donald Trump responded with harsh threats against the Colombian authorities.

"Colombia is also very sick - it is run by a sick man who likes to produce cocaine and send it to the United States. But he's not going to do it for long," Trump said.
