Sikorski: Every Step Lukashenko Took On "amnesty" Was The Result Of Pressure From Washington
Radoslaw Sikorski

The head of the Polish Foreign Ministry said about the promotion of the Polish-American dialog on the release of all Belarusian political prisoners.

On September 30, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski announced the advancement of the Polish-American dialog on the release of all political prisoners in Belarus, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said. He accompanied the corresponding publication on his page on social network X with a photo of negotiations with a delegation headed by U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Smith.

"More can and will be achieved," the head of Polish diplomacy wrote. - Each step on the amnesty [of political prisoners by Alexander Lukashenko] was the result of the efforts of the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump and his highly qualified team, including [Deputy Special Representative of the U.S. President for Ukraine] John Cole and Chris Smith."

Reminder, on September 11, 52 Belarusian political prisoners were released. They went to Lithuania. The release came after Lukashenko met with the deputy special envoy of the U.S. President John Cole. Also, Chris Smith, deputy assistant U.S. secretary of state for Europe, came to Minsk. Later it became known about the removal of sanctions from Belavia.

The leader of the Belarusian opposition Nikoli Statkevich refused to leave Belarus during the forced deportation of political prisoners to Lithuania. At the border, he knocked down the doors of the bus carrying the prisoners and ran out into the territory of Belarus.
