Russian General Detained In The Caucasus For The Second Time In A Day
Mikhail Nadezhin

He is accused of corruption.

On the morning of September 30, officers of the Main Department of Economic Security of the Russian Interior Ministry detained the head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry's head office in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic, Major-General of Internal Service Mikhail Nadezhin. This was reported by a source in law enforcement agencies to TASS. The general is suspected of embezzling 2 million rubles (part 6 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - taking a bribe on a particularly large scale). Nadezhin's apartment and his workplace are being searched.

According to the investigation, the general received a bribe from entrepreneur Anzor Nogmov, after which he certified documents concerning fire safety without conducting inspections. In particular, the suspect signed contracts for emergency rescue work at industrial and fuel and energy enterprises, the interlocutor said. In reality, building inspections and checks by the Ministry of Emergency Situations were not carried out, writes The Moscow Times.

As Mash writes, law enforcers seized a computer and documents for the years 2022-2024 from Nadezhin's home. The mentioned businessman Nogmov, according to the channel, works in the field of commercial real estate in Nalchik, in particular, erects warehouses and premises for stores. The businessman gave a bribe to the official during the realization of one of such projects, so that Nadezhdin would sign inspection acts on fire safety without going to the object.

Nadezhdin headed the department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Kabardino-Balkaria in 2015. In 2019, he was promoted to the rank of major-general of internal service. The official was awarded the medal "For the rescue of the dead" and other departmental medals.

On the eve of the criminal case of bribery (part 6 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) was detained head of the Rosgvardiya administration in North Ossetia 58-year-old Major-General Valery Golota. RBC and Shot reported that the general is a suspect in the case. Several other officials of the department were detained along with him.
