Ukrainian HIMARS "turned Off" The Lights In Belgorod

The missiles destroyed the foundation of the gas turbine building at the thermal power plant.

Four HIMARS missiles destroyed the base of the building with gas turbine units during the AFU attack on the Belgorod thermal power plant. The main building of the plant also caught fire, sources told ASTRA in the region's emergency services.

Generation of electricity has been stopped, the CHPP is operating only to supply hot water.

Another HIMARS flew into an electrical substation in the village of Blizhnaya Igumenka in the Belgorod district and damaged transformers and power lines.

According to ASTRA, more than 20,000 people were immediately left without electricity after the CHPP was hit. After that, to reduce the load on the main substation, more than 400 settlements of the region were disconnected from power supply.

A total of more than 160 thousand residents were left without light at night.

After the strike, more than 1800 transformer points at 6-10 kV were de-energized, part of the warning system, traffic lights and gas stations stopped working.

According to the governor, 77 thousand people are still without light. There are also violations in electricity supply, water supply and water disposal in 10 municipalities of the region.
