Ukrainian Military Regain Full Control Of Kupyansk

The district center is being cleared of Russian DRGs.

The frontline town of Kupyansk, one of the district centers of Kharkiv region, is back under the full control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Cleanup and other counter-sabotage measures are being carried out here: the Ukrainian military is tracking the remnants of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups that infiltrated the town, including those occupants who used civilian clothes to disguise themselves, said GVA chief Andrey Besedin on the air of the national telethon "Єдині новини".

"A large number of enemy soldiers have been destroyed or taken prisoner. At the moment, Ukrainian special forces are mopping up Kupyansk, methodically going through every building and basement so that there are no Russian soldiers left in the city. The situation is very difficult, but fully controlled by the fighters of our Ukrainian Defense Forces. The entire territory of Kupyansk and the Kupyansk community is under full control of the JNA," the district head stressed.

According to Besedin, the main battles here are being fought near the district center, and the front line is currently less than 1 kilometer from Kupyansk.

"The enemy will not be able to enter the city, although we have seen reports from the Russian General Staff that they actually allegedly control most of Kupyansk and are waiting for the full capture of this settlement in the near future. These statements of the Russians are nonsense and propaganda," the official assured.

He also added that at the moment the evacuation of the civilian population from the district center continues. The situation is critical due to the fact that the Russian military bombed the infrastructure with regular strikes. As of today there are 702 people on the right-bank part of Kupyansk, and a total of 1682 people on the territory of the Kupyansk community.
