Strikes On Rare Russian Aircraft In Crimea: GSD Clears Way For 'Toloka'

The experts revealed the meaning of the operation.

The "Ghosts" special unit of Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate has conducted a series of precision attacks on military facilities in temporarily occupied Crimea in recent days, in what could be an operation that opens the way to Crimea for Ukraine's new underwater drone, writes Defence Express.

September 21, it was reported that three Mi-8 helicopters and a 55Zh6U Nebo-U radar station were destroyed.

September 22 Despite their age, they are still used by the Russian Black Sea Fleet. In total, there were no more than six such aircraft left in service, which were used for patrolling the water area and searching for submarines.

Experts note that the Be-12's decommissioning could have several explanations:

decreasing the Russian Federation's ability to combat Ukrainian unmanned systems;

creating conditions for the actions of the new Ukrainian underwater drones "Toloka," which were recently unveiled in Lviv;

eliminating the threat from patrols tracking surface naval drones like Magura or Sea Baby.

Analysts emphasize that the GSD strikes not only inflict tangible losses on the Russian Black Sea Fleet, but also open the way for active use of Ukrainian maritime drones in the Black Sea.
