UK Ready To Shoot Down Russian Planes Over NATO Territory

London will respond to provocations.

The UK has threatened to shoot down Russian planes if they violate the airspace of NATO member states.

British Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper said this, according to Sky News.

"If we have to confront planes flying in NATO airspace without authorization, we will do so," she stressed.

The minister called the Russians' actions "dangerous and reckless" that could blow up the territorial integrity of sovereign states and European security. She warned that the Kremlin's deliberate provocations could lead to a direct armed clash between NATO and Russia.

"Our alliance is defensive, but have no illusions, we are ready to take all necessary measures to protect NATO airspace and territory. We are vigilant. We are resolute," Cooper emphasized.

She also noted that Russia is stepping up attacks on Ukraine and making "reckless" incursions into the skies of Poland, Romania and Estonia.
