The eldest son of US President Donald Trump - Donald Trump Jr - held a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul during an unannounced visit.
This was reported by Middle East Eye citing sources.
The visit of the US president's son was first reported by the chairman of Turkey's opposition Republican People's Party Ozgur Özel.
He claimed that Erdogan had held "secret talks" with the US president's eldest son on Gaza.
"He (Donald Trump Jr. - Ed.) was referred to as a 'businessman' in the protocol, but his name was not mentioned during the visit." While Palestine is bleeding, they are doing business with Trump's son through lobbying companies," Ozel said at a rally in Istanbul.
Afterward, a source close to Erdogan confirmed that Trump Jr. did meet with the Turkish president on Wednesday, but it was only a "courtesy visit," according to the interlocutor.
The source said there was no formal discussion on Gaza or any other specific topics.
Although Trump Jr. has no official role in his father's administration, he is considered very influential in the White House. He now serves as executive vice president of the Trump Organization.
In addition, sources say Erdogan is seeking a bilateral meeting with the U.S. president next week on the margins of the UN General Assembly summit.
Remember, in May, Trump Jr. said he might one day run for president because he has a "calling."
