Why Did Nikolai Statkevich Refuse To Leave Belarus?

The opposition leader showed Belarusians that there are values more important than life.

Why did Nikola Statkevich do it? Why did he refuse to leave Belarus for Lithuania and preferred to return to prison, but not to leave his homeland? Many friends, acquaintances and journalists ask me about it in interviews. And I invariably answer one thing: he could not do otherwise.

I didn't have this question "why?" when I saw Nikolai Statkevich sitting at the border and demanding to let him back into Belarus. Because I've known Nikolai for a long time and his readiness to go to the end, sacrificing his freedom and life. He is ready to fight alone against a superior evil, to die in prison, but to show Belarusians that there are values more important than life. And they really are: they are freedom, truth, honor, Motherland, God.

And if you can't even understand Nikolai Statkevich, this is an alarm bell first of all for you.
