UK To Produce A Thousand Interceptor Drones Per Month For Ukraine

The UK will produce and jointly develop modern military equipment with Ukraine as part of an agreement on the exchange of the latest technologies. The first project will be a new interceptor drone for air defense called Project OCTOPUS.

This is stated in a statement by the UK government.

The Project OCTOPUS interceptor drones will be mass-produced in Britain with the aim of producing thousands of units per month for delivery to Ukraine.

It is noted that interceptor drones are much cheaper than conventional air defense missiles and are very effective in countering Russian drones. They can quickly intercept enemy drones and missiles, destroying them before they reach their targets.

Defense Minister John Healey stressed that the innovations will be deployed at a wartime pace.

"This deal is the first of its kind, it gives British industry unprecedented access to the latest equipment designs, supports Ukraine in its fight against the illegal invasion of (Russian dictator Vladimir - ed.) Putin and demonstrates how defense can be an engine of growth as part of our Plan for Change," Gili stressed.

The new interceptor drone was designed by Ukrainians with the support of British scientists and technicians. They have already proven their effectiveness on the battlefield, the British government said.

It has proven "extremely effective" against Shahed attack drones used by Russia, and costs less than 10 percent of the cost of the drones it is designed to intercept.
