The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine revealed the details.

It is noted that the investigation found that a system of repressive treatment of detained Ukrainian citizens, including civilians, was organized in pre-trial detention center No. 2 in the city of Taganrog, Rostov region.

"Among the victims is a well-known Ukrainian journalist Victoria Roshchina. She was detained by the Russian military in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhya region and was escorted to this isolator," the report said.

Belousov emphasized that an expert examination established the presence on Roshchyna's body of "a number of bodily injuries that testified to the fact of torture and harsh origin to Victoria."

"Due to Victoria Roshchina's refusal to cooperate with the administration of the institution, Alexander Shtuda actually organized cruel treatment of her," Belousov stressed.

The Prosecutor General's Office notes that in the Taganrog pre-trial detention center, the journalist was subjected to systemic torture, beatings, humiliation, threats, severe restrictions on access to medical care, drinking water and food.

According to him, as a result of such treatment, Roschina's condition deteriorated significantly, she lost weight and the ability to move independently.

"Alexander Shtuda tried in every possible way to hide the fact of Victoria Roschina's stay in this institution, hiding her from all kinds of checks and not providing answers to the requests that came to the institution," Belousov added.

The Prosecutor General's Office notes that during the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings on the fact of illegal deprivation of liberty, torture and murder in the territory of the Russian Federation of the Ukrainian journalist Victoria Roshchyna (under part 1, 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) it was established that organized the commission of these crimes by the head of the detention center № 2 in Taganrog. Taganrog. Taganrog.

At the procedural direction of the Office of the Prosecutor General, the defendant was informed of suspicion (in absentia) under part 2 of article 28, part 1 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - cruel treatment of civilians, committed by prior conspiracy of a group of persons. He faces up to 12 years in prison.

The prosecutors noted that the suspect realized that the journalist was a civilian, did not take part in the armed conflict and had the appropriate status guaranteed to her by international humanitarian law, but deliberately violated the norms of the Geneva Convention and other international treaties.
