The fiberglass fabrics carried by the trucks, as media sources said, have a dual purpose - civil and military, and "in the military sphere they can be used in the production of drones."
The customs officers' suspicions were aroused by the country of origin of the goods, Belarus, which is under international sanctions for supporting Russia's war against Ukraine. The cargo was destined for the Moldavizolit plant in Tiraspol, which, according to ZDI sources and documents studied by the publication, belongs to a company that had ties to entities under EU and other sanctions.
According to Europa Liberă Moldova, before the outbreak of full-scale war, Moldavizolit, its subsidiary in Russia and its sister plant in the Sverdlovsk region had dozens of contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry for the supply of products to enterprises of the military-industrial complex.
According to the same sources, the main sensitive products manufactured by the plant are plastic materials for the production of printed circuit boards. The addition of copper wires turns them into key components for electronics - from household appliances and computers to equipment for fighter jets and cruise missiles.
