Gerasimov announced plans to continue the war.
Russia is not going to stop its military aggression against Ukraine, The Moscow Times writes. This statement was made by the chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov. "The fulfillment of the tasks of the special military operation by the Joint Grouping of Troops (Forces) will be continued by conducting offensive actions. Today we will specify the tasks to the groups of troops in the directions for the fall period," he said. A video of Gerasimov's speech was published by the Russian Defense Ministry, emphasizing that he "summarized the results of the spring-summer campaign of 2025 and clarified the tasks for the future."
Despite the fact that Russia has managed to seize less than 1% of Ukraine's territory over the past 1,000 days and the Russian army's losses have amounted to at least a million people, the head of the General Staff said that the "strategic initiative" is supposedly "fully in the hands" of the Russian Armed Forces. He also said that the massive strikes in Ukraine on August 28 and 30, which destroyed the entrance of a residential apartment building in Kiev and killed 25 people (including four children) and damaged civilian infrastructure in the rest of the regions, targeted "enterprises related to the military-industrial complex."
