German company Quantum Systems has launched secret factories in Ukraine to produce Vector reconnaissance drones. About 80 drones equipped with artificial intelligence and sensors for artillery detection are produced every month.
According to Politico.
The German drone manufacturer Quantum Systems has launched a network of secret factories in Ukraine, where Vector reconnaissance drones are manufactured.
The managing director of Quantum Systems Ukraine, at a drone testing event held this week in western Ukraine Alexander Berezhnoi said their company is a role model of how to do it.
"We are all role models for both sides, because although everyone is starting to talk about joint ventures, an opportunity to produce here and there, we have been doing it for years," he emphasized.
For three years of full-scale war, the company has opened a number of workshops in different regions of Ukraine, in parallel developing production in Germany, the United States and Australia.
Today Ukraine produces about 80 drones per month, while in Germany - about 120.
Vector is one of the first drones that Ukraine received in 2022. The new version is equipped with artificial intelligence and a WASP acoustic sensor, which allows it to detect enemy artillery by sound from a long distance. The drones are already being tested together with the Ukrainian missile and artillery command.
The company's representatives say that it is the war in Ukraine that has become the main testing ground for the development of drone technology.
"All the development of the drone industry is happening in the Donbass, not in Silicon Valley," said Quantum's business development director Mattias Lena.
At the same time, production in Ukraine is associated with risks, because Russian missiles regularly try to hit defense companies. Therefore, Quantum disperses its facilities around the country and works closely with European factories.
