Voters of the US president believe he is not taking a tough enough stance on Russian Federation.
Most Americans do not like the way the President of the United States Donald Trump is trying to stop the Russian-Ukrainian war. That's according to the results of the latest Quinnipiac University poll.
52% of respondents had a negative view of Trump's efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war, while 40% approved.
76% of respondents do not believe Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will support any peace agreement, and only 18% are confident he will.
A majority of respondents (62%) believe Trump is not tough enough on Russia. 28% of respondents said he is behaving "about right" toward the aggressor country, and only 3% said he is too tough.
At the same time, 45% of respondents said the US leader is behaving too tough toward Ukraine. 31% of Americans believe that he is treating the Ukrainian side the way it should be treated, while 13% said he is not tough enough.
On the whole, the majority of Americans (39%) are not at all confident that their leader will be able to mediate a lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia. Another 20% of respondents said they were "not very confident," 25% were "somewhat confident," and only 15% of respondents expressed strong confidence in Trump's mediation talents.
As for security guarantees, Americans are divided on the issue of sending a ground contingent if it would lead to a ceasefire in Ukraine.
About the participation of the U.S. military in a peacekeeping mission, 50% of respondents opposed the idea, while 40% supported it.
