The politician named a key condition.

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance has said he is willing to become head of state, but only if something happens to American leader Donald Trump.

This is reported by USA Today.

"Yes, terrible tragedies happen, but I am confident that the president of the United States is in good shape, will serve out the rest of his term and do great things for the American people," said Vance.

Vance expressed confidence that he has prepared well for the presidency.

"Over the last 200 days, I have prepared well on the job," the U.S. vice president said.

Vance's political career

J.D. Vance is 41 years old. He has served as a Republican Party senator from Ohio in the U.S. Congress since January 2023. Before the 2016 election, Vance criticized Donald Trump, but changed his position and supported him in the 2020 election.

Before entering politics, Vance served in the U.S. Marine Corps, was a correspondent during the military operation in Iraq, and then graduated from Yale Law School.

Trump previously named J.D. Vance as the most likely next Republican candidate for the 2028 election.
