The release of Belarusian political prisoners would be worthy of a Nobel Prize.
Editor-in-Chief of Charter97.org Natalya Radina became a guest of YouTube channel of famous journalist Evgeny Kiselyov.
One of the topics of conversation was the call of U.S. President Donald Trump to dictator Lukashenko, which took place on August 15. Natalia Radina voiced one of the versions why the head of the White House decided to talk to the Belarusian ruler:
- Some experts believe that it is related to the plot of the Ukrainian-Russian war. Presumably, Trump could have called Lukashenko in the hope that the latter would somehow influence Putin on the eve of the meeting in Alaska. This, in my opinion, is an absolutely delusional version. Or it speaks about the low competence of Donald Trump's administration, because it is quite clear that it is not Lukashenko who influences Putin, but vice versa.
It is possible that this is some separate track in the US president's policy, not directly related to Russia's war against Ukraine. We know that Donald Trump dreams of receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, and the release of Belarusian political prisoners may be the reason why he will receive the long-awaited award.
If you remember, in 2023, US President Joseph Biden was able to release 223 political prisoners in Nicaragua. At that time, there was an agreement with dictator Ortega that he would release political prisoners, and indeed U.S. military planes flew in and removed over 200 political prisoners from the country. However, this certainly did not change the situation in Nicaragua. Ortega immediately recruited new hostages. The US didn't end up lifting all sanctions on the regime, but there was such a precedent. Perhaps now Trump is trying to outdo Biden, release 1,300 people already and still get the Nobel Prize.
It is possible to turn a blind eye to all these epithets, which are completely unacceptable in relation to the dictator and murderer Lukashenko, but if it helps to release political prisoners, let it be 1300 people, I believe that it is possible to give Trump the Nobel Prize, because people's lives are more important than anything else.
