A residential building was damaged as a result of falling debris from one of the drones - several windows were broken, some residents were temporarily evacuated.
A fire was observed in one of the city's neighborhoods, local firefighters and emergency services are working to extinguish it.
There has been no official information from the city administration or law enforcement agencies about how the air defense systems worked.
It should be noted that the city of Orel, located in southwestern Russia, is an important economic and military center.
For example, in the vicinity of Orel, there is Tsymbulov military base, which is the main center in Russia for launching Iranian Shahed drones. This base has 8 launch pads on the ground and a 2.8 km long stretch of road where drones can be launched from vehicles.
In addition, the city has oil depots and energy facilities that provide fuel and energy supplies for the central regions of Russia.
