During August 2025, Ukraine's defense forces conducted more than 10 successful strikes against Russian oil refineries. It remains to attack 2-3 more major enterprises. This is written by analysts Defence Express.
Analysts recalled that on August 28, Ukrainian drone operators successfully attacked two oil refineries in Russia. As a result of the strikes on the refineries in Russia, oil refining decreased by 4.7% overnight. The successful attacks were carried out by members of the 14th SBS Regiment, hitting the Kuibyshev refinery in Samara, as well as the Afip refinery in the Krasnodar region. Available footage from the scene shows an extremely large-scale fire engulfing the Samara refinery as a result of the strikes, which were carried out by Lyuty drones.
"The resultant attacks on these two refinery complexes means that Ukraine is successfully completing the methodical knockout of all major Russian refineries at a range of about 1,000 kilometers," analysts said.

In the course of August, Ukrainian drones made raids on Russian territory:
Aug. 2: Ryazan refinery and Novokuibyshevsk refinery;
Aug. 7: Afip refinery;
Aug. 10: Saratov refinery;
Aug. 13: Volgograd refinery ("Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka");
August 15: Syzran refinery;
August 19: Volgograd refinery ("Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka");
August 24: Syzran refinery and Novoshakhtinsk refinery;
August 25: Ilsk refinery;
August 28: Kuibyshev refinery (in Samara) and Afipsk refinery.
Defense Express named the refineries that can be reached by SBS. In particular, analysts noted that next to Alabuga, where the Russians assemble Shaheds and where Ukrainian drones can reach, there is an oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk, which is near Naberezhnye Chelny - the last time drones went there was February 11, 2025.
Also, since March 14, the refinery in Tuapse on the Black Sea coast north of Sochi has not burned. There are also refineries in Moscow itself - Kapotnya, refineries near Orel and Kaluga, as well as in Krasnodar itself.
"In general, the situation with strikes on Russian refineries during this month is quite illustrative. Moreover methodical, because some facilities are hit repeatedly to achieve the desired result. Besides, these are only strikes on refineries, while Ukrainian long-range attacks also target oil pipeline infrastructure, oil depots and other facilities," Defense Express analysts said.
