Zelensky: Russians Are Not Going To Fulfill What They Promised The U.S.

We can already see "very brazen" signals from Moscow.

Russia avoids meetings with Ukraine at the leaders' level regarding the war, although it promised to do so earlier. This was stated by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in an address on August 27, the transcript was published by his press service.

Zelensky called it "a format to end the war."

"The leaders' level allows us to talk about key issues - this is the level we need. We all see very brazen negative signals from Moscow about the negotiations: the Russians are not going to fulfill what they promised, and promised to the United States of America, promised to others in the world who insist on stopping the killing and on real diplomacy," he said.

The Ukrainian president believes that the aggressor country should be pressured.

"It is necessary to force Russia to take real steps. Russia must end the war it started, which it continues. There has to be an answer from them. They have to be forced to make the right response. And that depends on America, on all those who think this war is really wrong. For our part, we will be as ready as possible - with platforms ready to host the meeting and guarantee effective diplomacy," Zelensky said.

He announced meetings of representatives of the Ukrainian authorities in Switzerland and the United States, including with the team of US President Donald Trump.

"Everyone who works on the content of security guarantees will be involved - military, political, economic components of security guarantees. The task is to accelerate as much as possible, so that it will also be a lever - a lever of influence: the Russians must see how serious the world is and how bad the consequences for Russia will be if the war continues," Zelensky explained.
