The President of Finland issued a statement.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is avoiding a face-to-face meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for fear of losing his "great power" image.
According to tvpworld.com, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said this in an interview with the Ykkösaam newspaper.
Stubb called such a meeting unlikely because the Kremlin has not changed its goals in the war against Ukraine. He said Putin's policy is aimed at consolidating "great power" status, splitting Western unity and limiting Ukraine's right to self-determination.
"He is afraid that Russia will not be perceived as a great power if he meets with Zelensky. He is afraid that Europe and the United States are united in supporting Zelensky and that he will not be able to limit Ukraine's right to self-determination," Stubb emphasized.
The Finnish president stressed that it is critical for Ukraine to maintain its independence, territorial integrity, strong Armed Forces and the right to join NATO and the EU.
