A High-ranking Propagandist Has Died In Russia

He was Putin's confidant.

Russian propagandist Kirill Vyshinsky has died in Moscow. He worked and was detained in Ukraine and returned to Russia in 2019.

According to RBC-Ukraine.

According to Russian media, Vyshinsky was an acting newscaster for Rossiya Segodnya and held a number of senior positions in state media structures. He was a so-called member of the Kremlin's human rights council. In the 2024 elections, he was a confidant of dictator Vladimir Putin.

Vyshinsky died in Moscow on August 23 at the age of 58. The cause of death was a serious illness.

Kyrill Vyshinsky was born in Dnipro and headed RIA Novosti Ukraine. In 2018, he was arrested on charges of state treason. According to the investigation, he was spreading pro-Russian propaganda.

In 2019, Vyshinsky became a participant in a prisoner exchange under the "35 by 35" formula. The exchange was agreed upon in the first months after Vladimir Zelensky took over as president of Ukraine. Russian authorities then released a number of Ukrainian political prisoners, including filmmaker Oleh Sentsov.
